Ultra-Luxurious Leica M10 Edition Zagato Camera

What will happen if an already luxury camera is designed by a CEO of a luxury car building company? The result is ultra-luxurious Leica M10 Edition Zagato. Leica is a well-known camera company founded in 1914 in Germany. They are famous for making high quality rangefinder cameras and lenses. Their flagship ‘M’ series camera was first introduced in 1954. Since then, they are one of the companies that exhibit the great craftsmanship of the Germans.

Leica’s M series cameras are expensive than other popular camera brands. According to B&H camera store, Leica M10 camera body alone costs $7295, while Canon’s professional EOS1-D Mark II DSLR camera body costs $5499. Leica’s lenses are also expensive depends on their features. Leica Summilux 50mm f1.4 lens costs $3,995 and Leica APO-Summicron 50mm f/2 lens costs $7995. Canon’s professional grade EF 50mm f/1.2L lens costs only $1299. If you want to use Leica camera system, you need to spend lot of money. 

The quality of their lenses is great. As a rangefinder camera, Leica M cameras are compact and weigh less than the DSLR cameras. The iconic photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson used Leica and took numerous iconic photos in twentieth century.  Thus, Leica M cameras are still famous despite their cost.

Now Leica has announced an ultra-luxurious and beautiful Leica M10 Edition Zagato camera. It is designed by Andrea Zagato, CEO ofrenowned coachbuilding company, Zagato. Zagato is founded in 1919 in Italy. They make limited editions of cars for Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. They are celebrated for using aluminum to build cars.

Generally, the Leica M cameras are wrapped around with leather sheet in order to give a comfortable grip and rich look. But, the outer body of M10 Edition Zagato camera is made of aluminum. Zagato has designed this camera to have vertical lines and grooves between them to give good grip. The M series cameras commonly have red circular Leica logo above the lens mount. In M10 Edition Zagato, Leica logo is in grey colour to match with the aluminum body. M10 Edition Zagato has a shiny redshutterbutton. 

The M10 Edition Zagato camera is so wonderful and shiny. The design is very minimalistic and clean. The control buttons on the back of the camera look very simple and elegant. It has CMOS 24 x 36mm sensor, ISO range from 100 to 50,000, SD/SDHC/SDXC card slots, 3-inch colour TFT LCD display and more. As a limited edition, only 250 units of M10 Edition Zagato are created. It costs $21,600.
