Six interesting facts that make us to reconsider the concept of time

The historic facts are always interesting. The following six interesting facts will make you reconsider the concept of time. 

1.    Beer was invented before tea
Beer was first brewed around 3500-3100 BC. The earliest evidence of beer and wine was found in an archaeological site called Godin Tepe in Iran. Tea was considered to be invented by a Chinese mythical sage ruler Shennong in 2737 BC. The oldest proof from the mausoleum of Emperor Jing of Han shows that the emperors of Han Dynasty drunk tea in 2nd century BC.

2.   USA declared independence before the French Revolution 
We usually think that the USA is relatively a new and modern country in the human history. But, the United States Declaration of Independence was announced on July 4, 1776. It was before the French Revolution taking place between 1789 and 1799. Moreover, Napoleon Bonaparte ruled the France between 1804 and 1814.

3.   Mechanical calculator was invented before steam engine
An English inventor Thomas Savery invented the first commercial steam powered pump in 1698. Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician, physicist and inventor, invented a mechanical calculator (Pascal’s calculator) in 1642.

4.   Steam locomotive train was invented before bicycle
First railway steam locomotive was created by Richard Trevithick in 1804 in the UK. Few years later, bicycle was invented in 1819 by a German inventor Baron Karl von Drais. His bicycle was known as ‘Dandy horse’. It has two wheels but no pedals. The rider has to push the vehicle along the road. A Scottish blacksmith, Krikpatrick MacMillan was claimed to invented the first mechanically driven bicycle. The ‘Rover Safety bicycle’ was the first modern bicycle designed by an Englishman J.K Starley in 1885.

5.   First men officially reached summit of the Mt Everest just 16 years before the first men set foot on the Moon
There is no record of ancient men climbed the Mt Everest. In 1921, George Mallory and Guy Bullock climbed the Everest up to 7,005 m (22,982 ft). In 1922, George Finch climbed up to the altitude of 8,320 m (27,300 ft). In 1924, Col. Felix Norton reached 8,550 m (28,050 ft) of Mt Everest. The official record of reaching the summit of Mt Everest is held by Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal. They were successfully climbed the Mt. Everest on May 29, 1953. You know that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set their foot on the Moon on July 21, 1969.

6.   Galileo observed four Jupiter’s moons before Europeans explored New Zealand
In 1610, Galileo Galilei observed four moons of Jupiter through his telescope. They were Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. He described them as stars. Abel Tasman was a Dutch explorer. He and his crew were the first Europeans to reach New Zealand in 1642.  After that, only in 1769 British explorer James Cook reached and explored New Zealand. But around four or five centuries before the arrival of Europeans, the Polynesians settled first in New Zealand between 1250 and 1300.
