Innovative Laowa Macro Lens

The Venus Optics of China has introduced an innovative and creative macro lens. The name of the lens is Laowa 24mm f/14 Macro Probe. Unlike the conventional lenses, it is narrow and 40.8 cm long. The length of the lens’s barrel makes it weird and creative as well. It can focus the subjects from just 2 cm away.

It has 2:1 magnification. It shoots at the wide angle of 84.1°, which gives a ‘bug eye’ perspective. This wide angle enables the lens to give more depth of field and cover the background in detail along with the subject. The conventional telephoto macro lenses cannot give such a detailed depth of field. It can be used to capture tiny insects and studio macro photos.

With the 40.8 cm lens barrel, photographers can capture the wildlife in their natural habitats, like ant hills and burrows of rodents, closure but from a safe distance. This lens is great for shooting wildlife documentaries, scientific research videos, creative home videos and more. The lens barrel is just 2 cm in diameter. So, it can be easily move through the grasses, plants and other narrow spots.

Laowa macro probe lens has aperture f/14 which is good to capture only in the bright light. Interestingly, this lens comes with an embedded LED ring light at the tip. It helps to take photo or video in the low light situations. The front of the lens barrel is water and dust proof. You can dip the lens inside the water or beverages to take video or photo.

The lens is available in Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony FE and Arri PL mounts. This great and creative lens will be available for $1,149. The Venus Optics is submitted for Kickstarter crowdfunding to mass produce this lens. I hope they will get the required funding to manufacture this lens.
